Four suspects have been caught in the act in Viljoenskroon after they carried out a business robbery in the area before they were apprehended on Tuesday, August 16.
However, one of the alleged suspect is still on the run, said police spokesperson in Fezile Dabi region Josephine Rani.
Rani says the robbery occurred during the day, when the shop manager and his employees were on duty.
“It is alleged that the 46-year-old shop owner was with his employees conducting their normal business routines when a man entered the shop and was immediately followed by three men,” said Rani.
Rani further said that, one suspect forced the shop owner to lie down, while other suspects took cash and cartons of cigarettes. It is alleged that the men fled the scene thereafter.
The concerned family members assisted Viljoenskroon Crime Prevention officers on finding the suspects.
“Three males were found at the nearby houses behind the shop and further investigations led to the arrest of a female employee found inside the shop,” added Rani.
Rani said that, the four suspects are between the ages of 22 and 41. They will appear before the Viljoenskroon Magistrate Court on Friday, August 19, for business robbery.
