Police urges Welkom citizens to help them to locate two house robbery suspects that broke-in at student accommodation in Doorn, Welkom.
It is alleged that the armed suspects held students hostage at a gunpoint and fled away with their cellphones.
“In the late night of yesterday, August 12, a group of students were sitting in their residential place in York street, Doorn Welkom when they were accosted by two unknown African males with handguns,” confirmed Lejweleputswa district police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng.
“They were forced to do one spot where they robbed their five cellphones valued at R27 000,” said Thakeng.
Detailing description of the alleged suspects Thakeng said the duo were wearing red overalls and caps.
“Both of them had firearm that were silver and black,” he said.
The police registered a case of house robbery and an identikit of the suspects will be made available soon.
Citizens are requested to assist the police by contacting crime stop number at 08600 10111 should they have information on whereabouts of the alleged suspects.
