Welkom cops launch search for Thabo Mokhatla, after he fled away with cold drinks in local church

The Welkom police have launched a search for missing Thabo Mokhatla, who is believed to have behaved ‘mysteriously’ before he vanished.

Lejweleputswa police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng said Mokhatla, was reported missing by his mother on Saturday, June 4, following the call she received that her son was acting very strange.

“On Saturday, mme Mokhatla residing at house number 7 Sutera Avenue Riebeeckstad came to Welkom Police Station to report her son missing,” says Thakeng.

“Apparently on Friday, at about 16:40, Thabo went out as usual exercise by running and he never came back home and he normally leave his cellphone at home.

“The mother received a call from another resident of Riebeeckstad that, her son entered a church premises and took children’s cool drinks and ran away. He also broke someone else windscreen.,” Thakeng explains.

He was last seen wearing a grey track suit pants, green fleece top, black and white sneakers tekkie shoes.

Thakeng said the police registered a missing case, and the search was initiated by Welkom SAPS.

“Anyone who might have information regarding the whereabouts of Thabong Mokhatla, is urged to contact his mother on 073 302 7173 , or alternatively contact the Welkom Police Station on 079 886 5574,” pleads Thakeng.
