The Welkom police have launched a manhunt for three unknown men for armed robbery and brutal murder of a Chinese businesswoman, who was fatally shot at her business premises.
According to the Welkom police, it is alleged that Xialezai Chen, 47,was accosted by three armed men who forcefully cornered her to open her business premises as they were on verge of robbing her.
“One of the suspects allegedly blocked the gate when she was preparing to leave the premises, and others followed the woman inside the court yard where they cornered her inside the vehicle,” police statement read.
It is alleged that, these suspects smashed the vehicle’s windows, and they instructed the deceased to hand over money.
Chen allegedly reversed the car away from the suspects and shots were fired in her direction.
The police said, she was struck by bullets and succumbed to the shot wounds, while suspects fled the scene.
Emergency Service Personnel (EMS) were summoned to the scene and the business woman was declared dead.
“A case of attempted robbery and murder is registered for further investigations,” statement read further.
