Search underway for missing 66-year-old Elliot Mkhaliphi

A resident of Thubelisha, Thabong, Masedi Majolo, reported his uncle missing at the Thabong police station yesterday, 17 June, after he found the uncle fled-away.

According to Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, the complainant left for work on Saturday morning after checking on his uncle, Elliot Mkhalipha, in his bedroom.

“Everything was alright with the uncle when Majolo went to work,” added Thakeng.

“Allegedly, at around 16:00, Majolo returned from work. To his surprise, he found his uncle not in the house and no where to be found,” said Thakeng.

He also reported that upon asking the neighbours about his uncle’s whereabouts, they related that he went out through a window and left.

“The complainant told the police the missing person was from Kwa-Zulu Natal Province and does not know anyone in Thabong. Furthermore, the man is also said to be mentally ill,” Thakeng reported.

Witnesses last saw him wearing a maroon and white jersey with a green jacket, a pair of blue machine trousers and brown slippers.

The police registered a missing person’s file for further investigation.

“Anyone with information regarding Mkhaliphi’s whereabouts may contact detective sergeant Mofokeng from Thabong Detective Services on 0828488120. Alternatively, they may use the Crime Stop number, 0860010111,” Thakeng concluded.
