SACP, Sadtu in Free State calls for controversial Mangope’s head

As calls are wagging on for the ‘trouble-maker’ Tshediso Mangope to be relieved from his duties, various political structures and the teachers’ union within the Free State have added their call for Mangope to be shown the door.

The SA Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sadtu) in the province came with guns blazing last night, as it called for the MEC for Free State co-operative governance and traditional affairs, Mxolisi Dukwana to expel his adviser.

This follows his recent controversial Facebook post insulting Sadtu teachers.

In a post that went viral on Facebook, Mangope lashed out on educators under SADTU as “teachers of vetcakes and achaar”.

His sentiments received critics from various educators labelling Mangope as “disrespectful towards black educators”.

In response to Mangope’s sentiments, the biggest teachers union in the province called on Dukwana and the provincial government to take harsh action against Mangope.

The ANC’s tripartite alliance partner, South African Communist Party (SACP) in the province, released a statement condemning Mangope’s remarks and lashed out on the embattled advisor, calling for his suspension.

Below is the media release from Sadtu and the posts that sparked controversy on Facebook, which were later deleted by Mangope.

Mangope has apologised for his social media post in which he allegedly criticised members of the Sadtu.
