As the vaccination rollout programme in South Africa’s basic education sector reaches its final stages, the Free State Department of Education has reached over 91.9% of vaccination drive.
According to a released statement by the basic education sector, Minister Angie Motshekga said more than 500 000 educators and staff have now been vaccinated in the sector since the roll-out began on 23 June 2021.
Since the inception of the vaccination drive, the Free State province has been dominating with fastest rate apart from other Provinces.
Free State Education MEC Tate Makgoe applauded educators that took part in vaccination programme.
During site visits to vaccination areas within the province, the department adopted the hashtag #DropAllandVaccinate to persuade educators to vaccinate.
At a current stage, two phases of vaccination doses were consumed, with the Lejweleputswa District education sector having vaccinated over 7 200 educators and staff members.
Speaking to Kasi Voice News, Free State education sector Spokesperson Howard Ndaba, said the province has successfully vaccinated over 90% of educators and staff members.
“This is a result of the hard work of mobilizing educators to vaccinate through community medium platforms.
“Throughout the vaccination programme, we visited several community radio stations within the province to call for all to vaccinate, as they are doing it for themselves and their loved ones,” said Ndaba.
