SA Weather Service (SAWS) has strongly cautioned that KwaZulu-Natal, will have a heavy flow of rain, after Level 10 was announced.
KwaZulu-Natal residents have been warned to take extra precautions ahead of the expected rainy conditions.
According to their tweet today, showers and thundershowers are expected across KZN.
Saws said widespread showers and thundershowers are expected across KZN, as a result of a cut-off low associated with a surface high.
“Some stations have recorded significant rainfall amounts and models indicate accumulations of more than 200mm in some places along the KZN coasts,” Saws addressed in a statement.
In the previous statement issued on Tuesday, 17 May, it predicted thunderstorms with strong winds.
“Thunderstorms, combined with strong, gusty surface winds are expected over the central interior by Friday afternoon, spreading to Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal in the evening and parts of Limpopo by Saturday,” read the previous statement.
Saws said these showers are going to have negative effects infrastructure and human life.
“Other examples of their impacts will include flooding of roads, danger to life due to fast flowing streams and damage to road and infrastructure,” statement concluded.
