A Missing Person File was opened for further investigation after Aphelele Qansane went missing in October.
According to the Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, the complainant alleged that she took in the young boy after meeting him at the traffic lights, near RH Matjhabeng in Koppie Alleen asking for help.
“Nolufefe Njisane (complainant) reported that she stayed with the boy at her residence in Riebeeckstad since July,” added Thakeng.
Njisane further told the police that they lived well until 22 October, when she went out of town for a weekend, leaving the boy at the house. Upon her return, Aphelele was no where to be found. She called his cellphone several times, but the phone was off.
It is not known what Aphelele was wearing at the time of his disappearance.
“Should anyone have information regarding Aphelele’s whereabouts, please contact detective sergeant Bafedile Dube of Welkom Detective Services on 0733017171. Alternatively, one may use the Crime Stop number 0860010111,” Thakeng concluded.
