Police launch manhunt after Winburg Traffic Department robbed at gunpoint

Police have launched a massive manhunt for four armed suspects who allegedly robbed the Winburg Traffic Department on Thursday, 14 April.

According to Lejweleputswa spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, the incident happened on the late night, whereby the security personnel were pointed with guns by four African male and a woman who spoke Zulu.

“Three security officers were tied up with cable ties and their mouth closed with selotape. Then the safe was grinded and the cash was taken,” said Thakeng.

“When it was quite the security officer managed to untie himself, and others and reported the incident to Winburg Police Station,” he added.

A business robbery case was opened for further investigation by the police.
