In the early hours of the 27 July, a 36-year-old truck driver was traveling 10 kilometers along the N1 road from Ventersburg towards Kroonstad when he was met with an unfortunate incident.
According to Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Thakeng, a vehicle, white Nissan NP 200 with unknown registration number flashed a blue light, prompting the truck driver to stop the truck.
“An African male approached him and asked for his driver’s license and commanded him to
step out the truck. While he was still shocked from what had happened, he saw another African man with a
gun outside the truck. The duo forced him back inside the truck and tied him up,” says Thakeng.
He further added that after the victim untied himself, he noticed that six Dunlop truck tyres had been stolen.
He hitchhiked to the police station to report the theft. An armed robbery case was filed.
Anyone with information to trace these bogus police officers is urged to contact detective warrant officer Sechaba Mothega or Ventersburg Detective Services Commander on 082 466 8152 alternatively they can call crime stop number on 08600 10111.
