Pacofs part ways with controversial CEO over 23 charges

The Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs) signed an agreement of mutual separation with their CEO, relieving him of his position after facing a series of charges that involves around corruption.

Pacofs suspended Peter Arthur Pedlar last month, following the alleged investigation pinned against him.

The investigation came after allegations of recruitment irregularities and abuse of power were made by a whistle-blower.

As a result of these allegations, the embattled CEO was due to a disciplinary hearing on 18 December 2020 to answer to 23 charges.

“Charges against Pedlar included faud; dishonesty; prejudicial conduct; gross negligence; and a false statement made,” stated Sunday World.

Bonakude Accountants and Auditors were talked to investigate Pedlar on already stated allegations.

The e-newspaper company says the hearing did not take place in spite of evidence presented.

“The disciplinary hearing did not take place despite the damning forensic report by Bonakude Accountants and Auditors, submitted to Pacofs on 01 October 2020,” Sunday World revealed. .

Sunday World further states that Bonakude made a number of recommendations in their report, advising Pacofs.

Recommendations included that Pacofs takes action against Pedlar for interfering with employees’ recruitment process, including a senior manager.

Sunday World said: “Bonakude also recommended further action to be taken for irregular expenditure incurred for rental accommodation without approval from the board.”

Pacofs spokesperson, Maseeta Makgabane, told Sunday World: “Mr Pedlar’s precautionary suspension was effected to enable an unhindered; fair; and transparent investigation process.

He stopped his duties on 30 November 2021 through a mutual separation agreement.”

“Due to the confidential nature of the aforementioned agreement, and related forensic investigation report, Pacofs is not at liberty to disclose the particulars thereof,” she added.

Sunday World Pedlar refused to comment to their query.
