As the heavy rainfall landed in South African soil this past week, most residents battled with floods in their homes, with others seeking help.
For Emily Maseko, a 71-year-old elderly woman living in a small shack that accommodates over eight people under one roof, her situation left many with tears following the predicaments of the heavy rainfall.

Speaking to Kasi Voice News, the daughter of Emily, Anna Maseko said the family had no space to sleep on after their house was flooded.
“Following heavy rain on Friday and Saturday, our shack was like a river, and everything in the house was in floating in water,” said emotional Anna.
The family pleads with members of the society to assist the family with the little help they can get, also the family said they have tried to engage with Dihlabeng municipality to assist in this regard, however their plea turned to deaf ears.
“We have tried to raise this with the municipality that they must assist us, as we are overcrowded under a small shack, in which is in break of collapse, no help we have received thus far,” said Anna.
The family is solely dependent on the granny’s pension grant.
Wearing their gumboots to try to push water outside of their home, good Samaritans neighbours had rallied to help the family.

Their situation is particularly bad, as Anna addressed that most of their furniture is damaged, and their clothes together with blankets were also affected.
The South African Weather Service had warned of strong winds and heavy rainfall over the across the country lasting until Monday, next week.
The family appeals to South Africans to lend a helping hand, as they attempt to have a decent home.
The family need all the support they can get. Those who wish to offer other forms of pledges are encouraged to do so.
