As the broken ANC in Free State is looking for ways to patch their dysfunctionalities, Deputy President David Mabuza is spending this weekend in the province to help the party rebuild its structures.
This comes at a time where the ANC is on the phase of reforming and reinforcing their renewal process, following frenzied years of chaotic rule under then provincial chair Ace Magashule.
Mabuza’s visit comes a just a weekend after former president Thabo Mbeki paid the province a visit for three days last weekend where he also met with the Interim Provincial Committee(IPC) to find ways of renewing the party.
Mabuza has also spent his weekend to meet with the Election structures to find measures that can be used to stabilizes municipalities.
This comes after the ruling party performed badly during last year’s municipal elections where the party lost its crucial municipality, Maluti-A-Phofung which is the cornerstone of the ANC within the province.
The meeting received a presentation on the performance of the ANC in the Elections.
The IPC members and those of Elections Team recounted the challenges the Elections campaign was confronted with, especially material resources.
According to Free State ANC spokesperson Oupa Khoabane, he told Kasi Voice News that this is a campaign that was undertaken immediately after the establishment of the Interim Provincial Committee (IPC).
He said Mabuza assessed that performance within the context of a renewal program that ANC Free State is undergoing.
“He commended the strides taken by the IPC, working with the NEC deployees, and promised to throw his weight behind the program,” said Khoabane.
“He acknowledged the challenges bedeviling some municipalities, especially ANC caucuses.
“Such challenges are not unique during the transition period of organizational Renewal. The IPC have to confront those challenges in order to stabilize municipalities,” he added.
Mabuza stated that the IPC and the national executive committee deployees will continue with the evaluation process by taking it to the regions.
