Social Crime Prevention Unit extended its hand through a reach out program held at the taxi rank on Thursday, 14 October 2021 in Kroonstad.
They conducted the programme as an initiative to appreciate the taxi industry’s participation in crime prevention.
Kroonstad SAPS Station Commander, Colonel Morne De Wet, and Visible Policing (VISPOL) Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ben Sithole led the programme.
Present were representatives of three taxi associations, namely, Moqhaka; Sunshine; and Thusanang Taxi Associations.
Commuters witnessed the occasion and received crime prevention messages from speeches delivered by role players.
Colonel De Wet summed up the programme by welcoming the initiative by taxi operators in the fight against crime. He thanked them for carrying crime prevention messages, preventing community members not to participate in unrests and looting.
“We are looking forward to the sustenance of this partnership against crime. Involving the taxi industry in the fight against crime will help us to squeeze the space of criminals in our communities,” concluded Col De Wet.

Taxi associations received appreciation certificates for the excellent contribution towards Moqhaka Municipality towns.
