Thabong SAPS launched 16 Days of Activism at Boitumelo Mall on Thursday, 25 November 2021.
The launch was in collaboration with LGBTQI; Women’s Network; Men For Change; Goldfields Family Advise Centre; Ziyaduma Promotions; Department of Social Development; and ChildLine FS.
Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Kedibone; Thabong Partnership Policing, Captain Motshidisi Setouto; and Thabong Station Commander, Brigadier Envor Solomon graced the event with their presence.
Warrant Officer Tshepo Sejake from Lejweleputswa District Legal Services directed the programme; while Thandeka Ndambi (Thabong CPF) opened with a prayer.
Thabong CPF Chairperson, Lebohang Mokhoabane addressed the community by pleading with Thabong men to stop Femicide and the abuse of women and children.
Lieutenant Colonel Mokete Mongali, from Men for Change; and Mpho Setsheho, from Women’s Network echoed the same voice to the community.
“South Africa is in cry for help, the escalating rate of abuse and femicide in our country is distressing,” they stated.
Stakeholders also appealed to women not to be initiators of unnecessary arguments that might lead to violence in their homes.
“From now on we as a country, should move from awareness to accountability,” stated Captain Stephen Thakeng.
Ziyamuda Promotions entertained the community with a drama called “Break The Silence” led by Saduma Miya, the Managing Director.

Mokhethi Dichakane from Department of Social Development and Bonolo Matsekane from Childline FS also addressed the community.
Thabong Station Commander, Brigadier Envor Solomon shared a few words with community by reassuring that crime against women and children will be of their top priorities.
“From now on, the community should move from awareness to accountability. Accountability is vital and everyone has a responsibility to report women and child abuse,” stated Brigadier Solomon.
Brigadier Solomon concluded by thanking all stakeholders for attendance and Thabong SAPS for the prestigious initiative.
