Four armed men are on the loose, after a clothing shop was robbed cash and cellphones at a gunpoint in Hennenmann, Free State.
According to police spokesperson in Lejweleputswa district, captain Stephen Thakeng, it is alleged that employees at this clothing store and a defenceless customer were overpowered and threatened with firearms.
This shocking incident happened during midday on Sunday, 27 March, where the complainant was with two of her colleagues busy serving their clients at a clothing business premises when an African male entered the store and stood at the cash register.
“He wanted to buy airtime, but before she could sell it to him three other African male persons entered,” says Thakeng.
“All the employees and one customer were forced to the back part of the business premises at gun point.
The complainant was instructed to hand over cash from the cash registers.
Two hundred and eleven (211) cellphones were also robbed. The suspects had face masks,” reveals Thakeng.
It is alleged that these four suspects left the scene on foot and its unknown whether a ‘decoy’ vehicle was used or not.
A case of business robbery was registered by the police for further investigation.
