Five Germiston suspects arrested with stolen corrugated irons in Winburg

Winburg : SAPS Members were on vehicle patrol when they noticed suspicious bakkies with load. Suspects fled on foot but five were arrested.

On Friday, 3 September 2021 at about 05:00, members of Winburg Visible Policing Constables Sello Moleleki and Molatudi Rantsatsi were on vehicle patrol in N5 road – Winburg and Senekal.

According to issued media release by SAPS, it is alleged that the police noticed two suspicious light delivery vehicles with loads of corrugated irons near Police Roads and Transport camp at Winburg.

Then members switched on the blue lights indicating to both drivers to stop.

These bakkies were seized loading stolen corrugated irons at Winburg.

“A group of unknown African men jumped from these vehicles and fled on foot in different directions.

“Members activated Warrant Officer Frans Mofokeng who is Rural Safety Coordinator and Detective Warrant Officer Dintekane Mothibi who is a Stand by Detective who joined the chasing of these suspects,” a statement read.

Five suspects aged from 18 to 39 years old were arrested and originate from Germiston in Gauteng Province.

The suspects’ two light delivery vehicles were seized and further more facing possession of suspected stolen corrugated irons.

The suspects will appear on the 6 September 2021 in Winburg Magistrate Court.

The Acting District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Brigadier Mzondi Mojafi lauded these members who ensured that they chase these fleeing suspects and arrested them.
