Duo suspects to appear before court for possessing suspected stolen vehicles

Two suspects aged 26 and 39 are set to appear before Heilbron Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 02 March following their arrests over possession of suspected stolen vehicles and housebreaking implements.

According to the police report, Belrex camera operators notified Heilbron farmers after noticing two Toyota Hilux bakkies reported stolen in Reitz.

As a result, the farmers chased the alleged suspects. They also alerted Heilbron police, Fezile-Dabi District Task team and neighbouring stations.

Farmers, along with the police, chased suspects until R57 near Lion Farm. From the first bakkie, suspects managed to flee on foot into the bushes and abandoned the bakkie. The police report stated the police arrested the suspect who drove the second bakkie.

“The team of police also arrested another suspect driving Toyota Corolla, which escorted the suspects,” read the statement.

After the operation, the police confiscated the two Toyota Hilux bakkies and the silver Toyota Corolla.

The two suspects in custody are from Tembisa, Gauteng.

Fezile-Dabi acting district commissioner, Brigadier Mapulane Mbeloane, applauded all parties who ensured the arrests of perpetrators.

She concluded by encouraging joint efforts between the police, private law enforcement agencies and the farming communities.
