Duo set for court appearance after busted with illegal guns

Two suspects are set to appear before the Petrus Steyn Magistrate Court, facing charges of possession of illegal firearms.

Police spokesperson in Thabo Mofutsanyana district, Mmako Mophiring said the tip-off received by the police led to the arrest of these suspects.

“It is alleged that, in the late afternoon of Saturday, August 13, concerned community members noticed two people in possession of firearms and immediately informed the police,” said Mophiring.

The police reacted to the tip-off immediately and found two men sitting at the particular house.

At the house two firearms were found, one had serial number and the other one had serial number removed.

“The firearms will be sent for ballistic test and for further analysis,” added Mophiring.

The suspect are between ages of 32 and 48 years.

The Free State acting provincial commissioner applauded community members for trusting police officers with such sensitive information.

“Continue to be our eyes and ears to wage war against time,” concluded general Modise.
