The Free State provincial CPF board public relations officer, Reginah Mathibe led the process of the new committee that will serve Welkom residents for half a decade.
Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Major General Lerato Molale; Welkom Station Commander, Brigadier Disebo Cezula; Visible Policing Commander, Colonel Beulah Siyaya; and Detective Commander Colonel Christo van der Merwe are some of the figures who graced the event with their presence at Ferdi Meyer Hall on Friday, 25 November 2021.
Elected CPF members are as follows: Zack Rossouw (Chairperson); Abdul Patel (Deputy Chairperson); Dirk Kotze (Secretary); Bonny Alfirs (Deputy Secretary); and Louis Marcus (PRO). Additional members are Palesa Mmesa; Stephen Thabana; and Mpai Moalahi.

Major General Lerato Molale delivered a message of support after committee elections.
He said the police are the community and the community are the police.
“Police alone cannot deal with crime. The community must be involved to assist, thus Community Policing Forum, which is a legal structure as per the SAPS Police Act. Different Policing agencies in the world have concluded that CPF can assist in the reduction of crime.” he said.

Major General Molale further emphasized three important aspects of CPF, namely: positive police/community interaction; partnerships easily created with stakeholders; and problem solving approaches.
“This elected Committee will assist Welkom SAPS to reduce crime,” General Molale concluded.
