The Queen cancelled after seven years, Mzansi Magic confirms!

The Mzansi Magic’s favourite telenovela, The Queen, produced by the Ferguson Films comes to an end after being renewed for the seventh season.

This comes after Mzansi Magic announced sad news that The Queen’s final episode will be on 13 January 2023.

The Queen‘s seventh season will start in July this year and will end on 13 January 2023.

Another telenovela that is coming to an end it is Lingashoni that airs on 1 Magic.  

The show which is produced by Stained Glass TV, will bow out on 16 March 2023.

“The success of our local strategy depends on how well we adapt to what our viewers desire to see on their screen,” Mzansi Magic said in a released media statement.

Mzansi Magic assured that there will be a new telenovela that will replace The Queen  and will air at 9pm, weekdays from January 2023.

The replacement of Lingashoni will be announced in due course. Even though 1Magic is not traditionally known as being home for telenovelas but it is a house for a multi-award winning production, The River.

Mzansi Magic added that they maintain long-standing and positive relationships with Ferguson Films and Stained Glass TV.

“ Our strategy is still focused on growing our local content offering. It is what drives our growth and our viewership figures, and we are committed to giving our discerning audiences content they can relate to and see themselves in.” they said.

They concluded that they have exciting plans for their upcoming content for 2023 and beyond.
