The Feed 500 charity initiative co-founded by Calvin and Nombulelo Mpuru, is earmarked for greatness, as the initiative has this year made a significant return with guns blazing.
The past year, as well as 2021 have proven to be very challenging on everyone since we got hit with covid-19 and a lot of people have since lost jobs and are struggling to make ends meet.
People will be going home to spend time with their families and we all know what joy that brings to be with family and enjoy good food but there are people who never experience this kind of joy or have the luxury of going home and waking up to a table filled with food and we just want to spread that joy and share some light in other people’s lives.
It has been difficult with increased unemployment, poverty and just the doom and gloom that came with the pandemic and giving back to people who are less fortunate will show that there is still some good in the world and hope that more and more people will come together and do the same where they can and just spread love and happiness.
Why community members should participate?
The same way people have come together in fighting the pandemic and supporting each other , is the same way we should all be against the hunger pandemic.
Covid-19 is not the only pandemic we have in our communities, and if we join hands like we have with the Covid-19 pandemic, we surely can make the world a better place and set a good example for our children.
Goals, in terms of collection
The main purpose is to feed 500 people, so anything from cash, food parcels, toiletries, sanitary pads, clothes and blankets will really be appreciated and will go a long way.
If you have a clipper and want to help by cutting hair or grooming, will also be accepted, we don’t just give back or spread love in one way.
Who will proceeds go to?
The homeless in Bloemfontein CBD, Batho, Heidedaal and other surrounding areas.
Dates to make donations
Donations can be made from the 10th of December till the 26th 2021.
Capitec account number : 1378353895
Why is giving back important?
We grew up on less but our parents with the little they had, never shied away from helping where they can and that is a principle we want to raise our children on.
To always be willing to help and give, a hand that gives is a hand that receives. if you can go to bed knowing you made someone’s life better and brighter then you have won the day and we want to start with the city we both grew up in.
