Motshedisi Likate is a 25-year-old young woman whom her Non-profit organization (NPO) called Motshedisi Likate Foundation(MLF) put her in the world map.
Likate told Kasi Voice News that she started her NPO back in 2016, at the time she saw a need to contribute to sustainable development goals in the community.
“The aim was to unlock the potential of children through ensuring that they have access to quality education as well as investing to young, adolescent women by ensuring they reach their fullest potential to thrive, inspire and succeed,” said Likate.
Likate also do pad drive, where they donate pads to less the fortunate.
The social entrepreneur have many achievements both national and international.
Her achievements are inclusive of; international presentations where her NPO served in countries like New York, Belgium, Canada, Kenya, Lesotho, G7 meetings and The Gates Foundation Goalkeepers, to just mention a few.
The QwaQwa-born was also featured in Sunday World 2022’s unsung heroes. Likate made it into Free State Premier’s top 50 Inspiration young people.
Likate who is studying towards Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase said that she is proud that she has employed one goal driven individual in her NPO.
Likate highlighted that she sometimes face problems in her NPO. Her problems are lack of resources since sometimes she has to take money from her budget to fund her NPO since some people do not want to make donations.
Lack of interest is sometimes a concern, as people who need help want to come only if the is food or giveaways.
She says that one of her pivotal key challenge is lack of unity since other stakeholders have power over her.
Despite all the challenge Likate faces, she says she defeat most of the problems since she is a self-motivated individual and will not let anything to get in her way of helping people.
