MK Party joins opposition alliance with progressive caucus of parties

The uMkhonto Wesizwe Party (MK Party) held a briefing on the 16 June in Johannesburg. In his statement the party leader Jacob Zuma said that it was not a coincidence that he addresses the nation on the 16 June on the 48th commemoration of the June 16 Soweto Massacre when young children stood up to the enemy and said enough is enough.

The briefing began with a moment of silence to honor the late Dudu Myeni, chairperson of the Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma Foundation, and other fallen members of the MK party.

Zuma reminded everyone present that he had addressed the nation six months ago on December 16th in Soweto. During that address, he explained his decision to campaign and vote for the MK party instead of the ANC led by Ramaphosa, whom he referred to as a sellout.

The former President announced that the MK party has formed an alliance with the newly established Progressive of Parties, which holds 30% of the seats in the National Assembly.

Due to allegations of electoral fraud and other illegal activities that occurred while the IEC was offline, the MK party believes that their numbers could have been even higher, possibly even a majority.

According to a statement read by MK’s spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, Jacob Zuma has decided that the party will take up its seats in the National Assembly based on legal advice. They are prepared to continue pursuing their claims of rigging both in parliament and in the courts.

“We presented concrete evidence to the IEC, showing widespread irregularities in the voting process and the voting system, it has all fallen on deaf ears.

“We have also tried all peaceful means to address our grievances, but all in vain. We have even approached the highest
court in the land, but it rejected our pleas without even giving us a hearing, and they’re relying on technicalities while the democracy itself is being destroyed,” said Zuma.

As a result the MK party decided to approach the international court over the rigging of the May 29 elections, with the hope that it will yield better results.

Moreover, Zuma lashed out at the Government of National Unity (GNU), calling it “meaningless” and an “unholy alliance led by whites.”

Additionally, the party’s legal counsel is disputing the SABC’s portrayal of the political pact.

Zuma said that people must be educated about using the right terms.

“We have asked our lawyers to write a letter of demand to the SABC to stop deliberately misleading South Africans by using terms like GNU or GPU (government of provincial unity) to refer to present sellout coalitions. This is nothing but a return of apartheid and colonialism,” There is no government of national unity in SA. This is a white-led unholy alliance between the DA and the ANC of Ramaphosa.

It is sponsored by big business, and it’s for the benefit of the markets and not the people,” said Zuma in his statement.

Zuma thanked the more than 4 million people who voted for MK and all the progressive forces fighting for the return of their land.
