Magashule supporters send stern warning to Ramaphosa, ANC to not interfere with ‘branches’

Defiant supporters of suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule, have issued a warning to the party and state President Cyril Ramaphosa that, they will consider a legal action if they still continuing with reconstituting branches in the Free State.

Magashule’s supporters marched to the party’s provincial offices in Mangaung last Friday to demand that the party desist from reconstituting branches in the region.

In their memorandum, they said the party should align themselves with the initial road map to the provincial and national conferences scheduled for June and December this year.

Sending a stern warning to Ramaphosa, the angry crowd vowed that they will head to the courts to institute a legal action, as they said “We will approach the courts urgently the same way you were introduced to us, through the courts”.

“You have set the precedence of resolving organisational processes through courts and we shall do the same,” read their memorandum.

The interim provincial committee convenor Mxolisi Dukwana, acceped their memorandum and said the party will review their grievances.

The protesters argued that the interim structures are dividing the party more than uniting it.

Magashule’s supporters want the branches to remain as they are.

“We have branches that are in good standing and they shall continue to remain so. They are ready to undergo the processes to renew their mandates to be properly constituted without doubt and in preparation for their regional and provincial conferences, national policy conference, national general council and the national conference.”

The province is coupled with deep divisions, where an interim committee had to be instituted following disbandment of the provincial committee.

Meanwhile, former President Thabo Mbeki was roped in t as the ideal man to unify the province, however, is still remains a deep concern for the party to renew and glory unity in the province.

The divisions in the province emerged after former leader Ace Magashule was suspended as the party’s secretary-general amid corruption allegations.
