Missing Teboho Makgalemele found killed by dogs in a remote village, Lesotho

The police in Lesotho are now investigating a case of murder after the body of Teboho Makgalemele was found on Friday, 14 January.

Makgalemele, who originates from Welkom, Free State was reported missing last week on Friday by his family, and on the day of his disappearance, he was allegedly going to see his traditional healer in Bela-Bela, Lesotho.

The 25-year-old, was found dead yesterday, in on one of the remote villages in Bela-Bela, and it is alleged that he became the victim of a dog attack, according to his mother.

The mother of Makhalemele, Puseletso by the name, revealed to Kasi Voice News that the 25-year-old who’s slightly mentally challenged, was told that the deceased was seen roaming in the area when the dogs attacked him.

“It is very disheartening to what happened to my son, we thought we will find him alive, it was a really painful discovery of what we found,” she said.

A large scale search by community members and the police led them to the body of Teboho at around 6pm, with his lifeless body with severe injuries.

Two dogs from the community were seized by police and taken for forensic examination. The owners are not facing charges at this stage.

The police described the animals as “camp dogs”, a colloquial term for domestic dogs living in remote Indigenous communities.
