Manhunt under way for abductors after attempt to flee with 11-year-old boy failed

The Welkom police have launched a manhunt after an 11-year-old boy from Thabong was kidnapped by an unknown driver of a silver grey Toyota Tazz.

According to a released statement by the South African Police Service (SAPS), the incident took place straight during the midday, today.

“Apparently the driver of this sedan kidnapped an 11 year old boy and brought him back. But he is wanted for kidnapping,” read the statement.

The Welkom police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng said a case of kidnapping was registered following this occurrence.

Apparently the boy was found unharmed and brought back home.

Thakeng further revealed that the police are on hunt for the the driver of a silver grey Toyota Tazz with registration number HWP 360 FS.

“Anyone who could have seen this vehicle is urged to contact Lt Col, Kedibone Gopane of Lejweleputswa District FCS, at the cellphone number 082 336 7729 or contact Police Emergency number 08600 10111.
