The departments of education and home affairs, along with the Welkom police reached out to a farming community on Tuesday, August 22nd.
The district’s police spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, says the intervention came after two officers, sergeant Mochudi and warrant officer Moreki, identified the need for birth certificates and IDs for parents and school learners.
“Residents and learners were registered at Vierhoek Farm School to become legal citizens,” added Thakeng.
Farm owners appreciated this initiative and called it a success.
Present at this programme was the school’s principal, Mr Elisha and the school management team (SMT); Mr Mahano form Home Affairs and Mr Ramakano from the Immigration Section of Home Affairs.
