Gauteng police still on hunt for killers after Dj Sumbody fatally shot multiple times

Police in Gauteng are hunting for serial killers who are still on loose after Oupa John Sefoka renowned for his stage name DJ Sumbody, was fatally shot in the early hours of this morning.

The Amapiano pioneer was allegedly shoot just next to Woodmead News Cafe in Sandton, Johannesburg together with his driver and the two sadly suffered the same fate.

Tributes have been pouring in from his fans since morning, people are still trying to come to terms with this sad reality.

Sumsounds Music Management confirmed DJ Sumbody’s death in a statement this morning.

“Artist and Musician DJ Sumbody has died. Details of his untimely death cannot be released but the artist named Oupa John Sefoka ran into an unfortunate incident that led to his passing in the early hours of Sunday morning November 20.

Details surrounding his passing cannot be disclosed as investigations are still ongoing.

The Sefoka family and Sumsounds Music Management have kindly requested privacy during this difficult time and will release a statement in due course.

Details of the funeral and memorial service will be confirmed” read the statement.

Meanwhile an investigation has been launched by the police in Gauteng into the circumstances that led to the horrific shooting that led to the death of two people and left one with serious injuries.

“Police received a complaint about a shooting incident at the corner of Woodmead Drive and Woodland Drive at approximately 00:30. Upon arrival at the scene, police found two people inside a VW Golf with gunshot wounds. Both victims, a driver, and a passenger were certified dead on the scene.

It was reported that the third victim, who was driving a BMW X5, was taken to the nearest medical care center after sustaining gunshot wounds,” Read the statement.

According to SAPS spokesperson in the province, Lieutenant colonel Mavela Masondo the motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.

In an effort to identify the suspects responsible for this shooting, major general Tommy Mthombeni, Gauteng’s acting provincial commissioner, has activated maximum resources.

Those with information that can assist the police with the investigation or apprehension of the suspects are urged to call crime stop number on 08600 10111 or report to the nearest police station.
