Tables have turned for the Basic Education department’s stand on 2021 matric results, when it called for the results to not be disclosed in media platforms.
On Tuesday morning, the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has ruled that the department should publish the matric results on media platforms.
The minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga, will be left with no choice, but to release the 2021 matric results in the public domain.
Last week, the department announced that matric results would no longer be published on public platforms, saying doing so would be in violation of the Protection of Personal Information Act.
The order granted by the court means that all the matriculants who are not near their schools, would be able to either access their results online, or via newspapers.
The National Senior Certificate results will be released on Thursday.
