Free State ANC condemns Magashule for attending EFF rally

The Free State ANC’s Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) has condemned what it labelled as ‘unruly behaviour’ of the party’s suspended secretary-general, Ace Magashule to attend a political gathering organised by its opposition party.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) held a commemorative occasion for the 67th anniversary celebration of the Freedom Charter in Kliptown, Gauteng on Sunday.

The gathering brought together hundreds of residents and top officials from the red berets.

However, to what came as a surprise to many, Magashule was also in attendance at Kliptown, and his pictures engaging with the left-wing party circulated over social media, where he was with the EFF’s top officials such as former national chairperson Dali Mpofu, secretary-general Marshall Dlamini, national chairperson Veronica Mente and deputy secretary-general Poppy Moiloa.

Now, the concerned IPC in Free State has launched a counter-revolutionary as they called then Premier of the Free State ‘ill-disciplined member’.

“The IPC has noted with concern the conduct of the suspended Secretary-General, comrade Ace Magashule for attending the political event of another political organisation (EFF) which is not in Alliance with the ANC,” said the party on Monday.

“Such a conduct can only be accepted if it is sanctioned by the organisation in pursuit of its political interests,” the IPC’s spokesperson Oupa Khoabane shared with Kasi Voice News.

Khoabane said office of the secretary-general is one of the highest positions in the organisation whose integrity has to be protected at all costs.

“The fact that he is suspended does not disqualify him from upholding the organisational discipline and other principles that must be observed by all the members,” said Khoabane.

He said the office the carries image of the organisation.

Khoabane said the conduct of Magashule comes as a new negative tendency, ‘It must not emulated by any member”.

He added that the Interim Provincial Structure is in the process of visiting branches to assist them in preparing for their conferences.

“The IPC has adopted the road map which must culminate with the Provincial Conference in September 2022. The members are expected to renew their membership and ensure that they appear on the branch registers.

“This will be amplified through Siveze campaign. The work of uniting and renewing the organisation is continuing without hindrance and we hope that at the time of going to Provincial Conference much would have been achieved,” addressed Khoabane.
