Easter fatal crashes: At least two killed in Free State roads

At least two people have lost their lives in accidents on Free State roads over the Easter long weekend.

A fatal accident on the deadly R34 between Odendaalsrus and Allanridge claimed another life on Monday, April 11.

It is reported that only one person was killed and three others sustained minor injuries in this horrific accident.

According to the reports the driver is alleged to have lost control of the car and it overturned. Emergency services were dispatched and they assessed the patients. One person was pronounced dead on the scene.

“There is no indication of what led to the overturn of the vehicle. Investigations are underway,” said the Emergency services personnel.

In another scene, a fatal accident occurred on the R76, 20km between Kroonstad and Viljoenskroon, at 20:15 on the same day, April 10.

It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle lost control and rolled over after hitting a warthog.

A number of emergency services were dispatched to the scene, including Net Care 911, a fire department, police, and towing services.

One lane had to be closed because the emergency vehicles occupied it. Unfortunately, paramedics declared the driver dead on the scene.

An additional occupant sustained minor injuries but declined to seek medical treatment.
