Duo suspects sought for robbing cellphones at jewellery store

The Sasolburg police have instigated an investigation following a jewellery store robbery of cellphones on Wednesday, 27 April.

According to Fezile Dabi police spokesperson, Captain Malebo Khosana, an unknown entered a jewellery store at John Voster Square, Sasolburg, at around 11:00. On duty was the 26-years-old complainant and her colleague.

The complainant alleges that the man requested assistance in buying a cellphone. As she was assisting him, the man asked to go and fetch more personal information from his car.

“On his return, the man came with another man who he denied being together with when asked,” added Khosana.

The man continued receiving assistance with his cellphone application.

Furthermore, the complainant reported that one of the suspects drew a firearm and ordered them to quietly go to the back of the shop where keys were kept.

Upon arrival, the suspects demanded fir the store workers’ private phones and the complainant gave hers, but her colleague refused. This led to the suspect hitting her with a firearm on the head and took her phone away.

“After getting the keys, duo suspects headed to the shop’s front where phones were locked in the cupboard,” informed Khosana.

They took off with the phones in a white Toyota Yaris who’s registration plates were revealed to be falsified.

The police report stated the complainant’s colleague sustained an injury to the head and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The whereabout of these suspects is still unknown and the value of robbed cellphones is also unknown.
