The case against Tswelopele Mayor Kenalemang Phukuntsi, who is facing five theft cases, assault and crimen injuria. assault and theft charges at the Hoopstad Magistrate Court, was on Friday postponed to May 20.
Phukuntsi, was charged following her radical move when she visited several shops of foreigners and alleged that they were selling expired groceries and confiscated these items.
The mayor then pocketed items such ascosmetics, vegetables, groceries, pampers, petrol cleaners and diesel cleaners.
These items taken from the shops were estimated to be over R60 000.
Five cases of theft and crimen injuria were registered and the mayor, 51-year-old, was arrested on April 8 at Hoopstad and appeared in the Hoopstad Magistrate Court, and was granted bail of R2000.
The case was then postponed to April 22 for investigation.
Today, the Magistrate Court postponed the matter to the 20 May 2022 for further investigation.
The bail of R2000 has been extended.
