Free State MEC for Social Development, Mamiki Qabathe has tested positive for Covid-19, the provincial government confirmed in a statement.
Qabathe received the results of her Covid-19 on Tuesday, which were confirmed positive.
According to the department’s issued statement, the MEC immediately started isolating.
“She is recovering at home and will continue carrying out her duties without any disruptions,” issued statement read.
“MEC Qabathe calls on the all citizens to take this virus seriously and to follow COVID-19 protocols at all times by wearing masks, washing and sanitizing hands and keepig social distance,” statement further read.
“The MEC for Social Development in the Free State Province reiterated in the words of President Ramaphosa where he emphasised -his own infection serve as a caution to all the people in the country to be vaccinated and remain vigilant against the exposure.”
“Vaccination remains the best protection against severe illness and hospitalisation.
”Even during these trying times MEC continues to selflessly think, pray and wish all citizens who tested COVID-19 positive speedy recovery.
“It is our collective prayer that MEC Qabathe recuperate soon and uses isolation period to recover adequately,” read the statement.
