Say No to ‘Blesser- Blessee’ relationships, writes Nompilo Gumede

While August is observed as a Women’s month in South Africa, to celebrate and appreciate heroines (imbokotho), a prolific writer Nompilo Khayelihle Gumede, student at University of the Free State, has crafted a masterpiece book, condemning ‘Blesser and Blessee‘ vibes as women end up becoming victims of gender-based violence – a pandemic facing the country.

Hailing from deep in the valley of Pietermaritzburg in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, and at only age of 21-years-old, she has headlined the news with her inspirational book.

Her love for writing was realised when Covid-19 merged in South Africa, subsequent social hindrances and quarantine reality made her pen down her debut book.

Her book is a sad reality faced by young girls who have accustomed to the life of dating blessers.

Upon realising that she loves and enjoys writing, the charismatic author opened a facebook page to share her newly found passion.

People’s reactions was positive, they encouraged her to continue writing and to consider publishing her work.

Her fictional Book Titled “The Demon’s Wife” depicts a story about a young girl from Limpopo who goes to Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, to pursue her studies with the hope of changing her family’s situation back at home.

The young girl gets involved with friends who have been living the soft life trend for years and forgets about the main reason for being there. Living at ease made things happen, things that money couldn’t buy were easily accessible.

Just like her peers, the young girl starts sleeping with older men and enjoys the luxury that comes with it, she even goes to the point of becoming a second wife to an older and affluent man.

Little did she know that she has sold her soul to the devil. Her sister wife gave her soul to Arazyal, a demon that is a source of their fortune. She later discovers that she’s pregnant and that her unborn child is meant to be offered as a sacrificial offering to Arazyal.

In her book Nompilo narrates the disadvantages of dating a sugar daddy, it might seem fun but it comes at a price. The thought of dating a sugar daddy has never crossed her mind and she wishes it should never cross her peers’ minds as it shutters dreams.

When asked what inspired her book, the young author confidently revealed to the people’s Ultimate voice of community, that it was inspired by real slay queen’s lifestyle, a lifestyle that most young people adores without thinking about the consequences that comes with it.

She further added that, “The Demon’s Wife” is a story she wished to read but it didn’t exist so she had to bring it to life.

Nompilo appeals to young girls who are dating older men for money to stay away from blessers and its benefits because it has dire consequences.

“My advice to the girls who date sugar daddies, luxury comes at a price. Spiritual ties are real, people steal people’s luck through sex, and snakes are real.

“The existence of good means the existence of evil as well.

“The money you get from sugar daddies is at the expense of your future. Let’s work hard for the things we want to achieve, let’s work hard for the money we want.

“Money is a spirit, money channels the energy it is attracted by. If you don’t respect money, it won’t respect you. If you get it easily, it will perish easily. If you earn it accordingly, it will last accordingly. The balance needs to be maintained,” said Nompilo.

She urged sugar daddies to change their ways and to stop enchanting girls using money.

“Sugar Daddies should stop alluring girls using money and material things, knowing they won’t say no because they are naive is abuse, consent under the influenced is not consent”. Said Nompilo.

Nompilo is a first year student, studying bachelor of social sciences in psychology and sociology.

In Five years, she sees herself as a best-selling author and a psychology researcher.

The Demon’s Wife was published in August 2022 and it will be officially launched on August 26.
