A township based non-profit company (NPC) is set to open many doors for the community of Thabong youth, as the project is earmarked to alleviate poverty and to reciprocate job seekers to be job creators.
Residents of Thabong will soon oversee a reduction in crime, as the vision bearer, Abram Mofokeng is piloting the top-tier community project called, Phoka Recreation and Community Development.
The project was initiated in 2017, but formally came into full operation during the rigid times of Covid-19 in 2020, where the project had hiccups to run swiftly due to the hardships brought by the virus.
However, this couldn’t halt Mofokeng and his associates to make their dream a living pipeline to uplift the society.
Mofokeng and his associates officially relaunched the project last month, as the project anticipates to offer skills to many.
“The project will contribute to community development through skills training for women and to support unemployed youth and school children,” Mofokeng said.
Phoka Recreation and Community Development provides food security and organic vegetables, and the project is esteemed to enable communities to fight poverty and hunger by cultivating the land available in their backyards.

He further added that crime which has taken a huge toll in Matjhabeng community as whole is a grave concern.
“Other critical plans is to reduce crime and give skills transfer to youth and community members in general, also to create opportunities to small businesses,” said Mofokeng.
The plight of the community prompted the 43-year-old goal orientated Mofokeng to leave his plush jobs and to invest his time in serving his community.
The project is supported by the National Lottery Commission (NLC).
