Any relationship needs growth, it needs to be nurtured, it needs to be watered by being in constant communication and spending time together. If there is lack of unremitted attention the relationship will grow cold, it will go on its downhill, the couple will drift apart, and the relationship will probably be on its tail end.
Just like any relationship God wants to spend some quality time with you. Our God is a gentleman, he will never force you to have a relationship with him. It solely depends on whether you want to make it work or not.
Life is full of ebbs and flows. People overexert themselves because they want to achieve certain goals in life. They are always tired because of their strenuous jobs or studies and all they want is to go home and replenish their strength for the next day.
They get so tired that they forget to spend time with God but when they are in trouble, they don’t forget him irrespective of their busy schedules.
Should we only spend some quality time with God when we are in trouble? A thousand times NO.
If you have allowed state of being overstretched of this world to come between God and you, if you have lost your first love or the connection you once had with God, if you have drifted from God and are almost 100% in the world, it is never too late to turn your situation around.
The fact that you are still respiring is proof that you still have time to change. It is your responsibility to grow your roots in Christ Jesus.
Just like the roots of a tree requires to be trimmed and the nursery stake to be removed, you should also trim your roots and get rid of whatever is not meant to be there, get rid of what is standing between God and you, get rid of what has shifted your focus from him, get rid of what took his place in your heart.
A tree requires to be watered for it to grow beautifully. If a tree is unattended, it can attract pests and will eventually die. If you don’t make your relationship with God your paramount responsibility, it will eventually die.
A relationship that has no communication dies, when two people don’t spend time together, they grow apart. No relationship can survive aloofness.
There can never be a strong bond without connection and there can never be a connection without constant communication and spending time together.
Grow your roots in Christ by dwelling in his word and worshipping him. By denying your will for his to be done. By living for him and only him.
There’s no way your roots in him will grow if you don’t water them. You will not connect with him if you are inaccessible.
Humble yourself like a child and go back, renew the relationship you once had. Seek the face of the Lord and revive the fear of God so that you do not go off the rails perennially.
We are visitors in this world, it is not our home, and it can never be our home. Grow your roots in Christ so that when the time to go home arrives, it finds you ready.
Repent while there is still time because no one knows the day or the hour. Grow your roots and enjoy the benefits of choosing him over the world.
The world is full of headaches and turmoil, it has nothing better to offer you. Go back to God and grow your roots in him.
Shalom.
