Free State Government pens down MoU with NSFAS to assist underprivileged students!

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by Free State Provincial Government and NSFAS on Monday, 17 January 2022, is set to open doors for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Free State premier, Sisi Ntombela, stated they have taken it upon themselves as the government to ensure that youngsters keen to learn receive funding to be successful in their studies.

She further stated that learners pass their exams with good marks and that the government needed to do their part as well.

“The ball is now in our court to ensure that those who need assistance and are deserving of such, receive it,” announced the premier.

The launch in Bohlokong, Bethlehem has marked an important milestone.

The premier further stated that many students missed out on such opportunities not due to not trying, but due to lack of information.

“The government recognises that many youngsters end up off course and do not fulfil their dreams. As a result, they decided that no child deserving of financial assistance will be left behind,” added Ntombela.

Premier Ntombela announced that to ensure the collaboration’ success, the have tasked youth coordinators to ensure deserving candidates receive the funding.

“In order to build our ideal Free State, we need youth participation. Our youth has to be educated; innovative and not afraid of challenges in order to become effective role player,” emphasized Free State premier.

Upon closing, the premier that the journey is lengthy, but achievable if all parties worked together. She also urged all office bearers not to forget the promises they made to those who voted them in last year’s elections.

“To those who will be fortunate enough to receive financial aid, please make use of this opportunity,” closed the premier.
