The Free State police out shined officers from various provinces at the Ninth SAPS National Excellence Awards held in Gauteng, showcasing remarkable achievements.
The SAPS National Excellence Awards is an annual ceremony recognizing the exceptional dedication and service of the South African Police Service’s workforce, reservists, and community policing structures.
The awards serve as a tool for cultivating a culture of excellence and innovation within the SAPS, with categories ranging from Administrative Employee to High Risk Member and Station of the Year.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in the Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, extended her heartfelt congratulations to the exceptional individuals recognize at the 9th Annual Excellence Awards that was held in Midrand, Gauteng last Friday night, February 16.
“These awards signify not only outstanding performance but also steadfast commitment to upholding the highest standards of service and professionalism in South African Police Service.
Each recipient has demonstrated exemplary dedication, integrity and leadership in their respective roles, embodying the core values of our organization,”says Motswenyane.
Lieutenant Colonel Junior Santi from the Tactical Response Unit in Bloemfontein won the category for High Risk Member of the year (Level 8-12) and walked away with the Laureate Award which includes brand new vehicle.
Constable Mathaha Lekhooa from the Navalsig Detectives won the Police Minister’s Special Award Category, he also earned the rank of Warrent Officer and he was recognised for his diligent investigative work in a high profile case.
Captain Pieter Drury from Bloemfontein POP Unit won the category for Medium Risk Member of the year (Level 8-12).
Furthermore, Captain Drury is deployed as an operational commander at the illicit mining operation “Knock out” in the province. Through Drury’s proper planing and command of members under his command, the operation managed to arrest 1 936 suspects in 892 reported cases.
