Two police officers rescued duo occupants for a that lost control and caught fire on Monday, 01 November 2021.
Welkom Public Order Policing Task Team members, Warrant Officer Thabo Boity and Sergeant Vincent traveled with a police vehicle from Winburg to Aldam Resort.
A black sedan in front of the police vehicle lost control at a curve and flew over the fence. It landed on the rocks a. S caught fire from the engine.
Duo police officers stopped to assist occupants of the burning sedan.
In the car was a driver and one passenger. There was no fire extinguisher, but police stopped a passing truck for one.
These POP Task Team members extinguished the vehicle and placed duo occupants at a safe spot. They also managed to retrieve ocupants’ valuable items before being destroyed by fire.
These occupants did not sustain any injuries, but were both shocked. They thanked duo SAPS members for their bravery.

Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Major General Lerato Molale, applauded these two POP Task Team members for the courage showed.
“This is really an extra mile in protecting and serving residents of our country, ” said District Commissioner.
