Crime Intelligence Gatherers obtained information about a man with unlicensed firearm and operationalised it.
CI approached Visible Policing (VISPOL) and headed to the identified house on Friday, 17 December 2021, in Kutloanong.
During their search, members found a 31-year-old man with a Norinco Pistol with a filed-off serial number, and six live ammunitions. These items are valued at R15 000.
Suspect did not have a licence for possessing the pistol and members arrested him as a result.
He will appear before Odendaalsrus Magistrate Court on Monday, 20 December 2021 facing these charges.
Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Major General Lerato Molale, applauded CI and Odendaalsrus VISPOL for the arrest and seizure of a firearm.
“This is a breakthrough because this firearm might have committed serious crimes within our communities,” said Major General Molale.
