Brothers to serve combined 20 years jail time for murder, sexual assault

The Virginia Regional Court has handed down a hefty sentence to two brothers, Monaheng Malgas (29) and Moeketsi Malgas (18) for murder, assault and sexual assault committed in July.

According to Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng, a 42-year-old woman residing in Virginia attended a ‘Street Bash’ party at one of the taverns.

“Whilst enjoying the night, the woman noticed an unknown man touching her 12-year-old daughter inappropriately, putting his hands inside her trousers.

“As a result, the concerned mother reprimanded this man who then became furious and attacked the woman,” added Thakeng.

Thakeng alleges that the complainant then informed her two sons, who were also at the party, about the incident. “Furthermore, she directed her sons to the man who assaulted her and pointed him out.”

It is alleged that the pair confronted the this man and in return, the man and his brother attacked and stabbed two boys.

Emergency Medical Services certified the younger brother (18) dead on the scene.

The older one (20) was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The Virginia police registered two cases of murder and assault.

Thakeng said further police investigations are continuing.

“Detective sergeant Motsamai Radiopane of Virginia Detective Services, to whom the case was assigned, worked tirelessly to trace the culprit brothers who have since been hiding at Hennenman. They managed to arrest them after a few days,” informed Thakeng.

Both suspects were charged and found guilty.

The first accused, Monaheng was handed 10 years imprisonment for murder, four years for assault and further four years for sexual assault.

This summed up to the total of 18 years of direct imprisonment.

His younger brother, Moeketsi received two years imprisonment for assault.
