Born and bred in Odendaalsrus, Elisa Ntjana is the driving force behind Baeti Food, a venture that goes beyond just serving meals. For Elisa, food is about meeting a universal human need. It fills stomachs, creates jobs, powers local economic activity, and responds to what society needs most: safety, quality, sustainability and affordability.
What sets Elisa apart from many creators in the kasi food scene is her unique skills and the type of content she brings to the table. For her, cooking is not just about recipes, it’s about creativity, intellectual stimulation, and the joy of sharing meals with the community. From experimenting with flavours and techniques, to playing with the aroma of spices, she finds inspiration in every step of the process.
Her passion shines brightest when working with pastries, whether it’s baking simple loaves, crafting complex sweet treats, or mixing up signature sauces to elevate the kasi favourite, the Kota.
Elisa carries the kind of skills that keep Baeti Food rising: strong communication, sharp attention to detail, leadership, problem-solving, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
She admits she sometimes struggles with impatience and the fear of saying no. Wanting to please others – and never disappoint her clients – can be a tough balancing act. But she embraces these challenges as part of her growth journey.
When she’s not in the kitchen, Elisa connects with her customers and community mainly through WhatsApp keeping that kasi vibe of accessibility and connection alive.
