Six murderers accused of brutally murdering whistle-blower and Financial Operating Officer, Babita Deokaran, who worked at Gauteng Department of Health are set to face the ongoing pre-trial in the Johannesburg High Court in 22 July.
The accused namely, Phakamani Hadebe, Zitha Hadebe, Nhlangano Ndlovu, Sanele Mbhele, Simphiwe Mazibuko and Phakanyiswa Dladla are accused of fatally wounding Deokaran last year in August.
According to Gauteng spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, Deokaran was fatally wounded outside her home in Winchester Hills, when she returned from dropping off her daughter at school.
“She was in the company of another person, hence the charges of attempted murder,” Mjonondwane said.
The six suspects were arrested same month last year, including the seventh suspect who was not charged due to ‘lack of evidence’.
Suspects have been charges with indictment for murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
