Tributes have poured in for seasonal Free State journalist Michael Tlhakudi who has died at his home following a short illness.
According to Free State Publishers and Editors Forum, Tlhakudi succumbed to an unknown illness.
The organisation has described Tlhakudi’s death as a sad loss for journalism fraternity in the province.
He was described as a sharp journalist who spared nothing in getting a good story.
“Tlhakudi, who was affectionately known as ‘Mike’ he was a talented Journalist, media practitioner and communicator par excellence who played positive role in ensuring media, journalism in particular is receiving attention by government, communities and all newsmaking stakeholders within the province and the country,” said the editor’s forum.
“As journalist Mike travelled across the length and breadth of South Africa covering good and bad stories that affect the citizens of this country.
FSPEF mourns Tlhakudi’s passing with an understanding that Free State and South African Media fraternity has not only lost an humble man, but lost an agent of progress, especially someone who always sought cooperation amongst stakeholders,” expressed the association.
“We convey our deepest condolences to Tlhakudi’s family, FSPEF members and the entire Journalism fratenity.
Indeed, death has robbed us noble and honest Man who will solely be missed.”
Details of the funeral and memorial service will be announced in due course.
