SA Medical Association Chairperson Mvuyisi Mzukwa recovering after stabbed multiple times

The South African Medical Association(SAMA) chairperson, Dr Mvuyisi Mzukwa was stabbed several times on the afternoon of Saturday, August 20.

This follows after SAMA board confirmed the shocking incident in an issued statement dated yesterday, August 21.

In a statement it is revealed that Mzukwa was travelling to home from the board meeting when he was attacked.

“Dr Mzukwa was attacked on the side of the road while driving home from King Shaka International Airport. He was on his way back from SAMA board meeting,” read the statement.

Mzukwa is alleged to have been found by Metro Police after surviving multiple stab wounds in the chest.

Mzukwa was therefore taken to the nearby hospital and is recovering at Intensive Care Unit(ICU)

The statement further raised concerns over car hijacking that increased this year compared to last year.

In the recently published crime statistics, police minister Bheki Cele announced that, KwaZulu-Natal is amongst provinces that have alarming cases of crime, murder and rape.
