Newly elected SACP leadership in Caleb Motshabi District set to revitalise service delivery!

The District Working Committee of the South African Communist Party(SACP) met today to discuss a way forward, after Caleb Motshabi district municipality failed to deliver services for its residents.

“We wish to express our serious concern regarding the collapse of both political and administrative leadership of the municipality to the point of near-total collapse of the institution,” said Caleb Motshabi District spokesperson Itumeleng Segalo.

According to the party, services that were not attended to include non-collections of waste products, unattended spillage that flows down the streets, roads that are not maintained, potholes and unpaved gravel roads that make certain areas not be accessible during rainy times.

“ There is a frequent crisis of access to clean and drinkable water in communities as a result of infrastructure that remains unmaintained for years,” added the communist party in a statement.

The party put the blame on its poor leadership for failing to monitor corruption and misuse of finances in the District.

“Urgent attention on CENTLEC, which continues to impose torturous and unaffordable electricity tariffs on the working-class and poor masses, is required,” said the party.

“The observation of our District is that the crisis results from serious factional infighting taking place in both the political and administrative leadership of Mangaung Metro Municipality, leading to governance paralysis and collapse of delivery of basic municipal services,” statement further read.

The newly elected party in the District promise to work tirelessly to ensure service delivery is met by the municipality.

They emphasized that corrupt leaders will be sent to jail.

“ The SACP in the District, therefore, calls on the residents of Mangaung, our strategic political alliance partners, organizations of the Mass Democratic Movement and other progressive stakeholders in the municipality to rise and join efforts to restore order and functionality within our municipality,” statement concluded.
