The ANC councillors based in Mangaung are up on arms, as they twiddle up and down to clean up Mangaung’s worst sewage spillage ahead of site inspection visit by opposition party’s EFF leader Julius Malema.
As the red berets embarks on their readiness programme, the EFF’s commander-in-chief is conducting an oversight inspection of township areas that have endured severe sewage spillages for years.
Malema has condemned that ANC in the Mangaung Metro as dysfunctional and comrades who think for their own interest.
“The ANC is doing nothing about the ailing infrastructure in Mangaung, I am going to the expose the rot of sewer spillage, in which our residents are facing in their homes,” said Malema.
“Mangaung municipality is doing nothing about this matter, our children dies due to this matter, and they blame Covid-19, the least I can do is to expose the rot,” said Malema.
Malema said the sewer system that is used is old, and the ANC has failed in its capacity to restructure the sewer system.
The audio that went viral on social media, one of the ANC leaders in the area can be heard saying: “I am urgently looking for one of the councillors in Ward 1, we are trying to come up with a measure to fix ailing issues in this ward, please help me to find the responsible councillor at this particular ward.”
The EFF further detailed more to the ANC’s plans to speed up the ‘clean-up’ operation.
